Melissa Benintendi, LPC
Director of Clinical Embodiment, Supervisor, Trainer, Consultant, Psychotherapist
When working with clients my main hope is to provide a deep sensation of safety so we can explore the areas of life that can be confusing, painful, and tender. This is always done with the hope of finding new understanding and relief. I find the true relief and release occurs when we feel safe enough to tell ourselves the full truth about our story and what it has meant for us. I find that truth resides primarily in the body and I help my clients learn to drop into their deep body sensations to discover the truth held there. Together we track their lived experiences and relationships through the lens of their body and the stories they have told themselves in order to survive.
I use a combination of somatic therapies, attachment focused therapy, and EMDR therapy to promote the gentle release of trauma from mind and body. I also focus on discovering new ways of being a fuller and truer expression of self in the world. As desired by those I work with, I also incorporate exploration of personal spirituality and how it provides purpose and meaning in our human experience. My personal healing journey has taught me the profound importance of including all aspects of humanness in the healing experience, mind, body and spirit, so we can become an integrated and joy-filled expression of ourselves.
